Pada akhir tahun 2024, Kementerian Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara dan Reformasi Birokrasi mengeluarkan peraturan baru tentang Jabatan Fungsional Guru, yaitu Peraturan Menteri Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara dan Reformasi Birokrasi (MENPANRB) Nomor 21 Tahun 2024 yang dikeluarkan pada tanggal 10 Desember 2024.
Peraturan ini mengatur mengenai kedudukan, tanggung jawab, klasifikasi/rumpun, kategori, dan jenjang; tugas jabatan dan ruang lingkup kegiatan; kebutuhan PNS dalam jabatan; pengangkatan dan pemberhentian dalam jabatan; pengelolaan kinerja, pengembangan kompetensi, dan kenaikan pangkat; instansi pembina; dan organisasi profesi.
tiga jabatan fungsional yaitu: jabatan fungsional pengawas sekolah, jabatan fungsional pamong belajar, dan jabatan fungsional penilik semuanya beralih menjadi jabatan fungsional guru.
- Guru yang sebelumnya menduduki Jabatan Fungsional Pengawas Sekolah dan Jabatan Fungsional Penilik menerima penugasan sebagai pendamping Satuan Pendidikan; dan
- Guru yang sebelumnya menduduki Jabatan Fungsional Pamong Belajar menerima penugasan sebagai pendidik pada jalur pendidikan nonformal.
